When:            Saturday, October 22, 2011 at 10 AM (rain or shine)

Where:           Icahn Stadium, Randall’s Island

What:              A certified 5K run/walk followed by childrens races and post-race party hosted by Randall’s Island Sports Foundation’s Young Professionals Council.

Course:          You will start and finish within Icahn Stadium, a world class facility that meets IAAF specifications for track and field events, including Olympic trials.  The certified 5K course, which will have chip timing, takes you outside Icahn Stadium along the island’s beautiful waterfront pathways and then returns you into the stadium where you can make a grand finish on the 400-meter running track with views of the East River and Manhattan in the distance (course map below).  Childrens races follow the 5K.

Party:             Stay for the post-race party in Icahn Stadium!  We will have a DJ cranking tunes to keep the mood lively and Belvedere Bloody Marys, Greenport Harbor Brewing Company beer, Popchips, Honest Tea beverages, Muscle Milk, Utz chips and other treats available.

Awards:          Top 3 male and female overall to receive an award and a cash prize (1st Place $150, 2nd Place $100 & 3rd Place $50).  Awards also to be given to the top 3 male & female runners in the following age group categories: 18 & under; 19-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; and 60+. 

Youth:             Childrens races begin at 11 AM.  All kids that participate will receive an award.  Age group categories:  4 & under (100 m); 5-6 years (100 m); 7-8 years (200 m); 9-10 years (300 m); and 11-13 years (400 m). 

T-Shirt:           All 5K runners who pre-register will receive a t-shirt. 

Bags:              A bag check will be provided.  Please bring an inexpensive bag and do not bring valuables to the event as RISF cannot be responsible for lost or stolen items.

Rules:             For the safety of all, no skates, strollers or pets are permitted in the race.

Refunds:         No refunds shall be given to participants who do not attend the event.

Sign-in:           Sign-in and race packet pick up will open at 8:30 AM at Icahn Stadium.  Day-of registration will also be available until 9:45 AM; however, the entry fee shall be $40 and t-shirts cannot be guaranteed for day-of registrants.
